As a graduate of the Royal Engineers, Karl has since gained experience at every level of supervision and management in the Industry, working on a wide variety of Projects from New Build Industrial to Educational facilities and Restoration Projects, Karl landed in Canada 4 years ago and has gone from strength to strength, eventually opening up Southwark Developments, growing it from a staff of 2 and $1m to a staff of 8 and $9M in year one.
Karl’s passion really is the Customer Interface, regardless of the trials faced during a project, his primary aim is ALWAYS customer service, with a firm belief that business is built on reputation.

Charles Boyce Pre Construction / Estimating
Charles is a senior construction professional with over 20 years of experience in estimating, design, planning, scheduling, risk & change management, and safety. Furthermore, Charles has 10 years of site experience in trade and supervisor roles. He is an excellent communicator who recognizes the importance of contributing as a team player whilst still maintaining a strong focus on client relations. Charles has proven himself to be an asset to our Southwark management team.

Ryan Haynes Director of Client Relations
Ryan is the business development portion of Southwark. He spends his time ensuring that our client base is being serviced properly. He ensures client relations are up-held and nurtures the new and potential clients we meet on a regular basis.
Zan Thorne Site Superintendent
Zan had begun his career in the Canadian Armed Forces where he served for 16 years. In 2005, he pursued his passion for construction where he started as a carpenters’ apprentice. He then advanced with a qualification of Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter and site foreman/superintendent. His main area of focus is in commercial new construction, tenant improvement, multi-family residential, institutional development, and building renovations.
Zan is very adapted to the fast streamed, stressful, and ever-changing dynamic of the construction industry. He can work effectively within this environment and manage and supervise his team, as well as be responsible and accountable to supervisors to accomplish and complete projects within time, budget, and safety requirements. Zan meets our clients’ expectations as well as our own corporate Southwark standards.
Jeff Berg Site Superintendent
Since an early age, Jeff showed a keen interest in woodwork and construction. Starting his career as an apprentice carpenter in 2005, he was involved with numerous projects such as residential construction, tilt-up cast in place, and commercial interior work. He achieved his Red Seal Journeyman Carpentry ticket in 2009 and continued to excel within the workforce. Through achievements and certifications such as Leadership for Safety Excellence combined with a goal in mind, he advanced to a superintendent.
Jeff is a strong leader because he believes in the importance of teamwork. He is effective in time management skills and thrives in a high paced environment making sure certain quality is met. Through safe work practices, Jeff strives to ensure a safe work culture that produces results.
Dale Munro Site Superintendent
Dale is our most experienced site superintendent and is a journeyman carpenter with over 30 years in the carpentry trade, including 17 years as a superintendent for a commercial contractor where he supervised many multi-million dollar projects. His work experience specializes in construction and renovating of schools, hospitals, apartments, extended care facilities, and churches. Highlighting experience in blueprint interpretation, sub-trade coordination, operation of heavy duty equipment, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical repair and maintenance. One of Dale’s great qualities is the ability to always make everyone laugh with his humorous comments. He is a breath of fresh air and a valued member of our team.

Gilles Coderre Site Carpenter
Gilles is our skilled site carpenter and has over 20 years in real estate, advertising, and financing. Gilles is a dedicated and enthusiastic member of our team and has proven to be a highly-valued asset to Southwark. Combining his years of experience in the construction industry, he has a natural aptitude for perfection and client satisfaction.
Kim Azarraga Office Administrator
Kim is our “quirky” office administrator at Southwark. She is a skilled administrative and office professional with a cross-functional background in office administration, operational strategies, and small project management. She has over 14 years of work experience with a broad range of professional office and sales positions and applauds the opportunity to contribute to Southwark’s organizational plans.
Kim enjoys challenges as opportunities to learn and works hard to achieve objectives. She is accustomed to fast-paced environments where deadlines are amongst the first of priorities and handling multiple tasks is the norm. Kim is a self-directed and self-motivated team player with developed business communication and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Additionally, Kim can successfully interact with an exceptionally diverse range of clients and business partners, and has flexibility and experience required to adjust to rapidly changing schedules and shifting priorities. Kim Anderson Administrative Assistant
Kim is a recent graduate of Human Resources Management with over 10 years of customer service experience and 5 years of clerical experience. She has a fresh perspective on organizational management and has an eagerness to learn and grow within Southwark. Kim has a passion for helping people and has very strong interpersonal skills. She is a reliable team player and naturally motivates others to develop and reach their full potential. She can easily manage disputes, is an excellent communicator, and is a master at building and maintaining relationships. Kim can adapt easily and successfully into new settings. She quickly assesses, learns, and reacts to any given situation. She is not daunted by unexpected issues, and she always has an optimistic outlook while solution seeking.
Corporate Safety Officer
Julie Gunn Corporate Safety Officer
Julie was retained by Southwark after completing our COR audit. We recognized the positive contribution she could bring to Southwark in ensuring our safety program continues to not only be compliant and ensures legislation is adhered, but that it also continues to improve. Julie has obtained many years of experience and knowledge in safety within Alberta and has acquired and maintained a successful business as a safety consultant, advisor, and auditor over the past 10 years. Although Julie is an eager individual and functions well on her own and as a safety professional, she is a team player and functions well within the rules, regulations, and standards set out for her. Julie has over 20 years of experience within the oil and gas industry as well as the construction industry holding the positions of safety coordinator and consultant. She has performed many safety audits for Certificate of Recognition Programs with much success and holds many educational certificates with A.A.S.P (Alberta Association for Safety Partnerships), A.C.S.A, A.M.T.A, Enform and C.R.S.P (Canadian Registered Safety Professional).
