As a graduate of the Royal Engineers, Karl has since gained experience at every level of supervision and management in the Industry, working on a wide variety of Projects from New Build Industrial to Educational facilities and Restoration Projects, Karl landed in Canada 4 years ago and has gone from strength to strength, eventually opening up Southwark Developments, growing it from a staff of 2 and $1m to a staff of 8 and $9M in year one.
Karl’s passion really is the Customer Interface, regardless of the trials faced during a project, his primary aim is ALWAYS customer service, with a firm belief that business is built on reputation.
Jeff Berg Site Superintendent
Since an early age, Jeff showed a keen interest in woodwork and construction. Starting his career as an apprentice carpenter in 2005, he was involved with numerous projects such as residential construction, tilt-up cast in place, and commercial interior work. He achieved his Red Seal Journeyman Carpentry ticket in 2009 and continued to excel within the workforce. Through achievements and certifications such as Leadership for Safety Excellence combined with a goal in mind, he advanced to a superintendent.
Jeff is a strong leader because he believes in the importance of teamwork. He is effective in time management skills and thrives in a high paced environment making sure certain quality is met. Through safe work practices, Jeff strives to ensure a safe work culture that produces results.

Gilles Coderre Site Carpenter
Gilles is our skilled site carpenter and has over 20 years in real estate, advertising, and financing. Gilles is a dedicated and enthusiastic member of our team and has proven to be a highly-valued asset to Southwark. Combining his years of experience in the construction industry, he has a natural aptitude for perfection and client satisfaction.
Corporate Safety Officer
Julie Gunn Corporate Safety Officer
Julie was retained by Southwark after completing our COR audit. We recognized the positive contribution she could bring to Southwark in ensuring our safety program continues to not only be compliant and ensures legislation is adhered, but that it also continues to improve. Julie has obtained many years of experience and knowledge in safety within Alberta and has acquired and maintained a successful business as a safety consultant, advisor, and auditor over the past 10 years. Although Julie is an eager individual and functions well on her own and as a safety professional, she is a team player and functions well within the rules, regulations, and standards set out for her. Julie has over 20 years of experience within the oil and gas industry as well as the construction industry holding the positions of safety coordinator and consultant. She has performed many safety audits for Certificate of Recognition Programs with much success and holds many educational certificates with A.A.S.P (Alberta Association for Safety Partnerships), A.C.S.A, A.M.T.A, Enform and C.R.S.P (Canadian Registered Safety Professional).
Ajit Bachhal Project Coordinator
An Engineer-in-Training, Ajit has been developing his skills and knowledge in the construction industry working with Southwarks Project Management team. Ajit has a strong technical background in science and engineering and is now applying these tools to commercial construction projects.
As a member of the Southwarks Project Management team, Ajit is focused on tracking all Project documentation and following QA/QC protocol. With the Southwark management team, Ajit assists in driving/delivering projects to completion within budget and scheduling parameters.
Gerald Doyle has joined the Southwark team as a foreman/carpenter. Bringing to the table over 20 years experience in the construction industry. Coming from a residential home builders background where he worked his way up to supervisor for a major home builder and has built over 600 single family homes. As a jack of all trades he takes a hands-on approach to each project. He owned and operated his own renovation company and specializing in basement developments. Believes all trades partners should know the job before their job and the job after them, to male each project a success.

Linda is our General Office Administrator at Southwark. She has graduated University in England where she studied Business Management, she moved to Canada from Europe in 2010. During her time in Canada she has gained valuable experience working in administrative roles in the construction industry.
